ST-8000A/DBIN
DUOBINARY FSK MODEM |
 |
| |
The ST-8000A/DBIN is a modified version of the standard
ST-8000A/MD-1296G FSK Modem. The
"/DBIN" DuoBinary version is designed to interoperate with
Air Force Modular Control Equipment (MCE) and Marine Corps
Tactical Air Operations Module (TAOM) TADIL-B modems and
other devices using the unique 1200/2400 baud FSK waveform.
The ST-8000A/DBIN is a full duplex modem and includes
buffers for both transmit and receive clocks. The "DBIN"
modification is housed completely inside the standard
ST-8000A/MD-1296G cabinet and requires no additional or
external components for operation. A special duobinary data
cable is provided for connection of the ST-8000A/DBIN to
RS-232 compatible data devices such as the STU-III
telephone. The ST8000A/DBIN and a STU-III gives the MCE and
TAOM the capability for a secure 2400bps dial-up TADIL-B
data link with any site in the world that has telephone
service. The audio I/O interface is to balanced, 600 ohm
line terminations and sources with a nominal amplitude of
-10 to 0 dBm. Standard versions of the ST-8000A/MD-1296G FSK
Modem do not include the duobinary conversion and are not
interoperable with the ST-8000A/DBIN version. The ST-8000A/DBIN
is available only from the HAL factory in Urbana, Illinois.
Power line and environmental specifications are identical to
those of the host ST-8000A/MD-1296G FSK Modem.
