The LP1200A Loop
Power Supply converts low level (RS-232 or MIL-188-114)
signals to high voltage current loop signals. The LP1200A is
specifically designed to be used with the HAL ST-8000 or
other modems with RS-232 or MIL-188 terminal interfaces. The
LP1200A will provide either polar (dual current) or neutral
(single current) loop interface to drive a teleprinter. The
transmit data input from the keyboard will accept either
neutral or polar voltages up to +/- 80 VDC at 20 to 60 ma.
Jumpers also allow the use of the LP1200A internal loop
supply with dry keyboard contacts. Either isolated 4-wire or
common return 3-wire teleprinter data connections may be
used. The interface cable provided for the ST-8000 HF Modem
is for RS-232 connection to the ST-8000 Terminal Data
Connector.
The LP1200A includes an internal relay that may be used to
switch the printer motor power on and off. The motor relay
is controlled by a front panel switch or automatically by
the ST8000 motor control timer circuit. The LP1200A may be
wired for operation from115 or 230 VAC +/- 10%, 50.60 Hz
power sources. The LP1200A cabinet is designed for mounting
in a standard 19-inch rack cabinet, requiring 3.5 inches of
vertical panel space.
